Dating back to 1838, the Port of Newcastle has no doubt had its share of wooden boats over the years. Each year the marina hosts a wooden boat festival that is open for the public to attend. This year a number of Trent Severn Antique & Classic Boat Association members brought their boats to be displayed during the event.
Ken Lavalette of Woodwind Yachts organized the display on both land and a few in the water. With water levels of Lake Ontario being six feet higher than last year, there was some question as to being able to access the docks and ramp. But a couple of boats still managed to get in the water and actually get on the lake for a run.
Even though there were a few moments of light rain, it didnít stop spectators from coming out to enjoy the boats. Thanks to all those that participated and a special thanks to Ken Lavalette for putting the event together.
