BOATS & GOODS FOR SALE:

Webmaster's Note

It has been brought to our attention that there are a number of bogus/hoax/goofy offers being emailed to boat (and auto) owners with items for sale on the Internet. We personally experienced this last year, whereby a broker 'representing a client' wanted to buy our boat. He emailed us, asking our bottom price -he then sent us a cheque - made out for $7000. more than the asking price (generous!) drawn on a bank in Minnesota - it looked real, hand written envelope, bank 'cashier's cheque' etc. He asked that we return the $7000. to his agent to arrange for transportation of the vessel. (Too funny!) Of course, the entire transaction was bogus. We haven't heard from him since. These emails come from free addresses (ie: Hotmail, Yahoo) because they are untraceable. This is the 3rd such "transaction" request we've heard of - not all from our site - but it does seem to be happening. Hopefully no one is really gullible enough to fall for it!

Remember the old saying, if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it most likely is a duck. Quack!

  • HELP WANTED!!: Advice needed re: Hesitating Motor!! We have a 1960's, 20ft. Owens cruiser with a 120 hp Mercruiser 1A motor (one of the first). Intermittently the motor hesitates (RPM's drop off by a couple hundred and then return to normal). This happens more dramatically and more often the more throttle you give. Carb has been rebuilt, tune up done, head rebuilt. Does anyone have an idea how this problem might be solved as it is a bit of a nuisance? If so, we would really appreciate hearing from you. We love the boat and are trying to return it to its original glory. Please contact Geoff, at either 705-653-2623 or by email.
